The Right Kind of “Influence”

One of the most common reasons sugar babies give for entering the world of sugar dating is “making ends meet while in college.” I even hear this from girls who aren’t even in college! They hear it all the time, so whenever they are asked… sure, it just sounds good to say.

Like all clichés, “I’m making ends meet while I get my degree” is rooted in truth. Plenty of women take up sugar dating for this reason, and they simply abandon it once they’ve landed their dream job with their hard-earned education. Sugar dating, to them, was just a “means to an end.”

However, these days a new “end goal” has been capturing the imagination of upwardly mobile beauties across the world. The payoff can be huge, and the prerequisites are much more manageable. All it takes is natural beauty and charisma, and (especially in the beginning) something that’s better than a college degree: a bunch of spare time. I’m speaking, of course of this generation’s “dream job” of choice: online influencer.

Whether it’s a YouTube channel, an Instagram, Tumblr, or even a popular Snapchat, there are a bunch of perky young things out there with millions of followers making it look incredibly easy to have a fabulous life. The perks are obvious (because they are usually the first thing you see: Access to the hottest parties and events, rubbing elbows with celebrities, and tons of free stuff: clothes, makeup, even things like food and toys… I don’t know, depends on what you’re into, and what your channel is about. There are girls who travel and make you jealous about all of the beaches they are hitting up on a seemingly daily basis, girls who do makeup tutorials, and even girls who post nothing but videos of themselves playing video games.

All of these women have one thing in common: They have amassed a large fan base that is interested in what they post. Long ago, advertisers started to notice, and started referring to these self-made celebrities as “influencers,” and a new dream job was born. Suddenly, you didn’t have to have a talent, or have someone give you a “big break” to be famous – you just had to be popular.

As I mentioned, the dream of becoming an influencer is so alluring because it doesn’t require a college degree. It does, however, have one thing in common with a college education: You can’t have a full-time job at the same time. In order to build your following, and to learn the ropes of social media marketing, you need to have plenty of free time to devote to it – the same free time you’d be burning up in boring classes or cramming for midterms if you were in college. So, just like a college girl, you’re gonna need some assistance somewhere.

That’s where the sugar bowl comes in. Having the right sugar daddy to support you can solve all of the practical problems you need to solve.

  • Need sexy shots of yourself in a variety of foreign locales, but you can’t afford to travel?

  • Need the time to set up a Twitch stream, and to get good enough at playing video games so that people will want to watch you play?

  • Need to spend hours at the gym building the perfect body, so that you can amass enough followers to attract protein powder sponsors to sponsor you?

  • Or what if you just need to upgrade your video equipment, or buy some editing software, so you can create better content?

The biggest benefit of sugar dating is freedom. You free up your time to do all of the things listed above, but the support also gives you the freedom to fail – to make mistakes along the way, learn from them, and get better. When you are holding down a 40-hour-a-week job, there is no breathing room at all, and the pressure to succeed as quickly as possible can drive you crazy.

Sugar dating gives you the breathing room you need to really focus on the things that you want to learn, so that you can have the life you want. Take it from me - by giving you this advice, I guess I’m an influencer, too!
